Oh, my. Where did all these cobwebs come from?

It has been a while since I've been here, hasn't it? But in my abscence I did manage to complete and post my third Magnificent Seven story, which is my first venture into the ATF AU. And I like that AU quite a bit. Link to the story to follow.

On a non-Mag7 note, it's only 49 days til I get to meet up with some friends from the Combat! fandom!!! I'm so excited!!!

Because it's been far too long since I wandered in here last

I've been ignoring this blog. Not intentionally, mind you. There just hasn't been anything interesting to post here. I'm sure no one cares that my lilacs are blooming. Well, unless it's Hamlette. :D And as this is intended to be a Mag7-centric blog, that subject is a bit OT.

So I'll post this: I was nominated for a MoM award in the Best New Author category. If you follow my lj, you already know this, and I apologize for repeating myself. And in a twist worthy of one of Lanyn's stories, I'm also a judge for the MoM awards. Not in my category, naturally. But a judge, nonetheless. It's going to be a tough decision, deciding who has the best work out there. The Mag7 fandom is chock full of outstanding writers. But I believe myself to be a fair and honest person, and I shall endeavor to do the job to the best of my ability. That's all anyone can ask, really. Do your best.

And of course you know I'm going to add a picture now. Either one of Ezra or his portrayer, Tony Starke.

Feed the writers

I fell in love with The Magnificent Seven when I saw the show way back in the late 90s. I never dreamed that it would have such a huge following so many years later, but I was thrilled to discover that it indeed does have such.

There is a Yahoo group called "Mistresses of Malarkey", and they hand out awards to the Mag7 fanfic writers each year, in categories too numerous to mention in this post. I am a member of this group, and was asked just today if I would like to be on the awards staff. I was honored. There is some really terrific fanfic in this fandom, and it is nice to see the authors rewarded for their hard work. As a writer myself, I know what it's like to pour your heart and soul, not to mention time, into your work and have it basically ignored. It's not a good feeling. At all.

So to the ladies of MoM - YAY!!! Thank you for taking time to honor our fellow writers!

Sick

I learned the hard way that when you have a fever, you should never try to write whumpage. It ain't pretty. At all.

Many thanks to my Californy friend, Ricochet, for passing this crud across the country, via the phone line. I owe ya one, sis.

Now I'm going back to my comfy couch and crochet. Doesn't require a lot of brain power, but keeps my mind and hands busy and I forget how rotten I feel.

Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls!

Isn't it wonderful when you're agonizing over a particular section of a story and from out of nowhere a very important part, which you previously had no idea was so important, just clicks into place? Makes one feel like springing from their chair and doing a seriously goofy happy dance!!!

Note to self

Remember to put up traps and alarms around the perimeter to stop wayward EPB's from infiltrating the compound. Argh.

With a little (LOT!) help from my friends

I've been fretting over the dialogue in my current WIP. It was thisclose to driving me to distraction. (not that it would be a long trip, mind you.) Then earlier today, a friend offered to take a look at my problem, and lo and behold, the advice she gave me just clicked! Now I truly believe I can write the next segment of my story without pulling all my hair out or gnashing my teeth. Huzzah! Thanks, Sarah!!

To whom it may concern

I. LOATHE. WRITING. DIALOGUE.

That is all.

A bit of frivolity on a Sunday afternoon

I recently acquired Printshop, and while I'm still learning about all the bells and whistles, I was able to construct this little bit of Ezra-ness. Cheesy, but I like it. :D

E-Vil Plot Bunnies

So, I'm right in the middle of a story. It's flowing just fine, my characters are cooperating to the fullest extent, I'm happy. Then what happens? From out of nowhere, an EPB smacks me upside the head, refusing to go away until I give it my full, undivided attention. Sigh.

I shouldn't complain. At least I am writing, right? :D

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya

So, armed with my outline, favorite writing music, a clear view of where the story is going, and a determination to finish at least one chapter tonight, I sat down to write. And I did. 387 shiny new words. Then BAM! Where the heck did that brick wall come from? I give up.

Jay Dratton

So, I finally got to see Starke's "Cold Case" ep, and wow! Granted, he was a jackass at the beginning of the show, but by the end of the hour, I was almost moved to tears. This man amazes me with his range of emotions. Here's hoping he will continue sharing his talent with us for many years to come.

Ha!

No twitterpation here, mind you. Except for that with Mr. Standish. :D

I really am a one-man woman.....most of the time

But this shot of Eric Close as Vin Tanner was just too hard to pass up.
We will return to the regular Ezra-worshipping in my next post. ;-)

It's the end of the world?

Nah. Just the end of my Mag7 story! I'm so happy that I could just go....collapse in bed and sleep the sleep of someone who only missed her self-imposed deadline by 2 days!

And that's exactly what I'm going to do!
